Keys to maintain order at home

Maintaining order at home can be amazingly difficult. Sometimes, we do not have enough time or the desire to organize everything. Nothing compares to arriving home after a long day and finding everything tidy and organized. Most of the time our problem can be a stuff problem. If you moved to a smaller place probably you would not have enough space.

Maybe you need a piece of furniture like a cabinet, a cupboard, or a sideboard to organize everything better. Renting furniture can be a fast and cheap option to get what you need. Maybe you have many stuff or cleaning is not your thing, however, there are some keys to being more organized and maintain order at your house easily.

Make a to-do list

You need to organize yourself before organizing everything else. You can begin by writing everything you need to get done. Then, the next step is to do an itinerary of what you need to organize and clean. Putting this list in plain sight is a great reminder and a way to motivate you.

If you live with someone else, whether it is your family, roommate, friend, or significant other, you can split the duties. Cleaning and organizing the space you share can be a very bonding experience. It eases the work and everyone can share their opinion about how they want to organize and rearrange everything. If you live alone you can always invite a friend, they can also help to get rid of anything you do not need.

Get rid of everything you do not use or need

This can be the most difficult step, but it is necessary to clean the excess in each room. It is very hard to organize excess even if you have all the containers, organizers, baskets, bins, and dividers in the world. The less stuff you have, the less you have to organize. It takes time but eventually, you will see the difference and it will be worth it.

If you manage to get rid of the excess it is also necessary to not buy anything you do not need. An easy way to do it is to ask yourself before buying something, Do I really need this?; Do I have a place to store this at home?; Would I buy it even if it were not on sale? If you answer “no” to any of these questions do not buy it!.

Try to not procrastinate

Don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Pick up immediately the thrash and everything that fall on the floor; make your bed when you wake up; clean up immediately after cooking; keep everything where it belongs and store closest to where you use it; keep your fridge clean and put the food closer to its expiration date on view; always follow your itinerary and dedicate at least 15 minutes to cleaning. By doing all this daily you will maintain order at home very easily.
